Collection: Craig Davison

Craig’s iconic subject matter of children at play is nod to his own childhood in the 60’s where he enjoyed riding his bike and reading comic books.

During the late 1980s his childhood dream came true when he went on to specialise in pre-school comics- drawing characters including The Shoe People, The Wombles, Huxley Pig and Bangers and Mash! A few years later he was working as a designer and animator for a video game company, with characters such as Zorro, The Hulk, The Hurricanes and Johnny Bazookatone.

It was during this period Craig began to sculpt 3D figures for animation, and realised it was something he was really good at it. He then became a freelance sculptor making models for toys and action figures for commercial ranges including Doctor Who, Harry Potter, and Me To You and Enchantica.

The prospect of becoming a full time artist was no within reach! Craig says: “Ideas come from everything and anything. Everywhere I look, images and ideas are lining up to be used.” Now painting on canvas, the figurative artist brings all these nostalgic memories to life through the use of colour and dynamic brush strokes.
